My feelings and thoughts about class today:

Class today was good in terms of education because i learn far more than just cells. i get to research on things i never knew existed before and expanded my knowledge.

1 extended concept I am interested to research on /read more about

I would like to read more aboul cells in general especially the human brain cell so that i can learn more about what it is going on in there, although the human brain cell might be quite similar to the animal brain cell but it's better to learn what's in my body rather than an animal, but i do love sharks and dogs though!~

Common Misconception about brain cells

1) Alcohol will kill brain cells

2) Brain cells cannot regenerate, if you kill a brain cell, it is never replaced

2 things/(questions) I am unsure about

1) Why do people fall sick even though the body system seems to work perfectly

Your Emotions Affect Your Immune System

the cold you caught may be nothing more than your body’s way of expressing its feelings of guilt the stomach ache you have is probably nothing more than sadness and disappointment

sometimes when someone is depressed they might unconciously commit suicide
take this for an example:

''John was taking a stroll in the park because he was feeling depressed as his
friends weren't talking to him anymore because of a fight. He keep telling
himself that he wants to die but didn't dare to. He unconciously walked across the road to get to the other side but was knocked down by a car and
killed almost instantly''

Everyone might considered this as an accident but actually John was really depressed and was wishing he would die and John unconcious mind made his wish came true

Also, when the weather change, people might get sick and they blame it
on the cold/hot weather but actually that isn't the issue.
The weather might stress out your immune system, giving germs to take
control over your body thus, allowing you to fall sick

2) Why does your eye twitches?

GIFSoup
Muscle spasms in the eyelid causes eye twitches. Because of this, it is believed that it is related to the nervous system. Most think that these muscle twitches can be related to emotiona stress or physical eye strain. For example, staring at the computer all day can cause it to twitch. This type of eye twitch is not considered serious and is usually transitory. Some eye twitches even cause blindness, cause of this can involved botox. If eye twitches continuously twitches, you must consult a doctor immediately as it may be a symptom of some sickness.

Where is this topic/concept applied in daily living?
- Sometimes accidents occur and this may be the reason so it is important how to learn how to
control one's feeling and don't let your emotions control you.
-Eye twitching may happen sometimes and unfortunately it affects everyone.
So it is considered as a thing you experience in daily live and also
these facts above help you know how to overcome to eye twitching and also
what to do if eye twitching continuously occur.

3 main concepts i have learnt

Cells : Parts of cells

1)Nucleus
-small,dense, spherical body
-within nucleus contains 1 or 2 smaller round bodies called nuclealusa and they build up proteins
-Nuclear envelope/membrane: seperates nuclear content from surrounding cytoplasm
-Nuclear Pores : scattered over surface of nuclear envelop only permits certain molecules to pass
-Chromatin : long, thread-like, contains hereditary materials (DNA and proteins) and controld activities such as cell division
-Chromosomes : When chromatin threads being highly coiled and condensed during cell division

Funtions of the Nucleus
-Contain genetic material in form of chromosomes
-Control all cellular activities
-Carry instructions in protein synthesis
-Involved in cell division

2)Cell Membrane
-Delivate, thin, living, protective, partially permeable membrane
-made of proteins and fats
-provide surface area for absorption of materials in and out
-small molecules : Glucose, water, oxygen and carbion dioxide can pass through but prevents larger molecules such as starch and protein from passing through

Functions of the cell membrane
-Separates one cell from adjacent cells
-Control and regulate substance passing in and out of cells as sufficient rates
-Regulate uptake of nutrients and release of metabolic waste
-Barrier to large molecules
-Partially permeable to allow only certain molecules to pass through

3)Cytoplasm

- Jelly-like fluids in which chemical reactions take plac
-Suspension of organelles, proteins and food reserves and other substances that cell requires
-Contains organelles and a network of tubules and flattened spaces lined by a membrane

Membrane network in the cytoplasm

Endoplasmic Reticulum(ER)
there are 2 types of ER, there is a smooth ER and a rough ER
-both are involved int eh synthesis and transport of substances
-Both extends from the nuclear envelope through cytoplasm

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (RER)
-appears rough
-small particles called ribosomes are attaches to it outer surface
-the outer surface of RER is continuous with the nuclear envelope
- it functions is to transport proteins made by ribosomes to the Goldgi apparatus for the secretion out of the cell
-Either attaches or lie freely in cytoplasm

Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum (SER)
-Does not have ribosomes attached to its member
-Connected to the RER
- it's function is to sunthesize substance such and fats and steroids
-Conver harmful substance to harmless ones (detoxification)
